Toyo girls' senior high school has two educational courses - an Integrated course and an Advanced course.

1. The Integrated course

Students following the curriculum of the integrated course can earn 31 credits in one year. First-year students are separated into two different classes: the selected class and the normal class. The selected class is the one for the top 30 students. From the second year, students are divided into three different classes: the humanities class, the science class and a selected class depending on their career choices. After three-year of study under this curriculum, students have cultivated their abilities and are able to go on to universities, colleges and technical schools.

2. The Special advanced course

Students following the curriculum of the Special advanced course can earn 35 credits in one year. After cultivating their fundamentals during the first year, students are then separated, during the second year, into two different classes: the humanities class and the science class. After two-years of study, they complete standard high school training, and, are able to start concentrating on preparation for university entrance examinations during their third year. This course is a special one for those who aim at entering national universities, prefectural universities and famous private universities.

1. Training camp

All the new students go to an overnight camp in order to mingle with their new classmates in high school. While traveling to Kawaguchiko Lake by bus, they listen to the performance of classical music at the Orgel Forest and explore the caves at Hyoketsu and Fuketsu.

2. Choral competition

Students compete using assigned pieces and chosen pieces with others in their class. As for the free pieces, they can choose from a large range from classic, pops and gospel, and all the class will come together to exhibit the results of their efforts. At this special time the beautiful sounds of on singing fills the halls of the school.

3. Cosmos sai (School festival)

A two-day school festival is held every year. On the first day, with the hall fully booked, students do stage performances. On the second day, students manage a diverse amount of class-unit entertainments, such as a presenting a tearoom and "Ennichi"-putting on a fair on the school grounds. Above all, the haunted house is so popular that there is a line in front every year.

4. Sports day

A sports day at Rikugien Stadium is held every year. Students compete in team sports and non-team sports between school grades and try to score a victory. They have a good time laughing and shedding tears to original cheerleading and a tug of war with parents.

5. School excursion

Second-year students go on a school excursion for four days and three nights to the Kyushu district. In Nagasaki, they visit the Atomic Bomb Museum to consider world peace. In addition, this event includes group freedom to observe varied sightseeing spots. This is a great event that creates many delightful memories.

6. Ball game day

Students compete in dodge ball between class units. Using tournament plays and drawing lots for deciding opponents, students communicate with those of other grades. Each class aims for victory, and the feeling of fellowship becomes strong.

7. Special lectures

Intended for the first-year students, lectures on flower arrangements, tea ceremony and computers are conducted. Through the lectures of flower arrangements and tea ceremony, students are able to learn and experience manners and the Japanese tradition.

The student council has been called "SHIRAN" at Toyo girls' high school. This is the name which the founder designed and comes from the combination of names of two aromatic flowers of Chinese legend.
