Today, we went to a place called Rotorua.
First, we watched a show by Māori people. Their singing was very good and powerful. They also had Māori instruments. They hit small balls with their hands to make sounds.
Next, we followed a guide and saw hot springs. The smell was very strong. There was a lot of steam, and in some places, hot water came out with a lot of power.
Then, we had lunch. It was a buffet, so we could choose many different foods. I especially liked the ice cream with something called KAWAKAWA. It was very delicious.
After that, we went to see a bird called a kiwi. Kiwi birds are very special and rare in New Zealand.
On the way home, we went to Lake Rotorua. There were so many birds there! I was very surprised because I had never seen so many birds before.
It was a very fun day!(H.O)

Today, I saw three kiwis. After that, we went to a lake and saw some black swans, so we taught them some tricks. It took about an hour and a half to get there by car, but it was definitely worth the trip. We also watched a haka, and it was so powerful and impressive. I was really moved by the performance.(M.S)

Today, I went to Rotorua. It was my first time seeing a haka, and I was very impressed. I was interested in New Zealand culture, so I was happy to see it in person. After watching the haka, I saw a geyser. A lot of steam came out. I also went to a kiwi conservation center. Luckily, I could see a kiwi up close. I was happy to see it eating too.(R.K)

Today, I went sightseeing in Rotorua. Rotorua is about an hour and a half to two hours by car from Hamilton, where we live. As soon as we arrived in Rotorua, a Maori haka concert began. It was incredibly powerful and wonderful. Lunch was a buffet. I was happy to be able to eat as much of what I liked as I wanted. The chocolate cream puffs and fruit were especially delicious. After we finished eating, our guide took us on a tour. I was able to get a clear look at the kiwis I’d been wanting to see for a long time, and since I’d heard they aren’t usually easy to spot, I felt really lucky. I was surprised by how much bigger the geyser was than I’d imagined. There was a strong smell of sulfur around the geyser, and it felt warm when I got close. Through my tour of Rotorua, I really felt how much New Zealanders cherish and love their nature and traditions. I realized that it’s our role to protect what we have now and pass it on to future generations so that these traditions and natural wonders aren’t lost. After school, I went with my host mother to buy plants, which is her hobby. It was a large store, and there were flowers I’d never seen before it was fun just looking around. Study tour is coming to an end, but I want to enjoy every moment so I have no regrets.(M.M)

Today, we all went to Rotorua. The bus ride was very long, but I was able to see lots of different views . When we arrived in Rotorua, we went shopping first. I bought lots of souvenirs and other things. Then, we watched a haka show. The performers had very powerful voices, so I really enjoyed it. For lunch, we ate many different kinds of food. The gratin was the best. We also had ice cream and chocolate.
Next, we learned a lot about Maui. The thing that made me the happiest was seeing a kiwi. I was so happy!
On the bus ride home, I was tired, so I slept a lot. After we got home, I had dinner and went to buy some snacks for my buddy. After that, I drew pictures with my host sister. I drew New Zealand.
I experienced so many things today!(N.I)

I went to Rotorua today. In Tepuia, I saw the performance of the Maori, an indigenous people of New Zealand. Even though there were a total of 7 people, the voice was well communicated and powerful. It was amazing to throw a wooden stick at the right time to catch it, and to play with a ball or guitar. I had a very valuable experience. Next, I also saw the mayse. The air from the surrounding ground was warm. I was surprised that the hot water was spraying with great momentum and the steam was amazing. And I also saw kiwi. I couldn’t take a picture, but I was able to see 3 of them. I was surprised that he walked so fast. It was very cute. I was able to buy souvenirs, and it was a lot of fun. After returning to Hamilton, I went to buy plants with my host mother. On the way home, I stopped by Domino’s Pizza and had it for dinner. It was a very good day.(M.I)

Today, I went to Te Puia and Lake Rotorua in Rotorua. At Te Puia, we first took part in a welcoming ceremony to enter the village, and then we watched a haka. The performance using instruments I had never seen before was amazing, and I was very impressed by the beautiful harmony of their voices.
At the kiwi conservation center, I learned that the number of kiwis has decreased because of deforestation and bacteria. They are now working to increase the number of kiwis and return them to the wild.
At Te Puia, I also saw places where steam and sulfur gas were coming out of the ground. It had a unique smell.
At Lake Rotorua, there were many seagulls and black birds that I had never seen before. The scenery was beautiful, and I had a great time.(T.S)

Today I went to Rotorua to see Maori. There, the guide explained a lot about the history of Maori, and it was a very good lesson. I’ve seen kiwi again. I was lucky enough to see it. Kiwi is said to be an endangered animal, and Maori people seem to be increasing the number of male and female kiwi. It was a very good experience.(C.F)
